1972 Lockwood Centre Opens as a bespoke Day Care Centre for Guildford.
The building complex includes a comprehensive range of spaces and
facilities
2002 Local artists, Led by Mary Branson are invited
by the Lockwood Management Team, run by
Surrey County Council Adult Social Care to be ‘in residence’ at the
Lockwood Centre. This offer to use empty indoor spaces was on the
basis that the artist’s agreed to run creative workshops for customers
of the centre.
SCC reverse this decision and individual spaces were leased to the
resident artists. Service Level Agreements (SLA) ensured the services
each artist provided equalled the agreed rent of each available spaces.
2013 The launch of the first Lockwood Arts Vision, including proposals to
improve Day Care Services, produced by Lockwood Arts.
2021 Following changes to the needs and direction of the current building
operator, Surrey Choices, Lockwood Arts decide to act on the
opportunity presented.
2022 Following consultation with the community and a call for cost effective,
flexible spaces and facilities for the arts, social care and business
enterprise, Lockwood Arts launch the Transforming Spaces vision to
regenerate the Lockwood Centre.
2023 Lockwood Arts form a collective of stakeholders to plan and advocate
for a new Lockwood Centre – working title The Lockwood Regenerated
Consortium (LRC
